Stress induced delayed pregnancy

Delayed PregnancyDelayed pregnancy
We all know that stress is an emotional factor but could it impact a physiological system?

Yes, there is an established mind body connection. When we are happy the emotion factor for happiness is realized in the body with dopamine and serotonin. Same way when we are stressed in our routine and when it exceeds a certain level, the stress hormones are released to cope up the need.

Research studies indicates that there is biological basis where stress reduces the chances of a woman in becoming pregnant. The hormones that are considered as female hormones are oestrogen and progesterone.

The characteristic of a female hormone is in the role it plays in a woman towards fertility. Stress hormones like cortisol and reproductive hormones testosterone, and DHEA are produced from the adrenal glands. These steroids form an interchangeable pool of hormones, which are converted to one of the either forms to circulate in the system.

DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a hormone that functions as a precursor to male and female sex hormones, including testosterone and oestrogen. Precursors are substances that are converted by the body into a hormone.

Stress causing hormone imbalance
Stress hormones, such as cortisol, interfere with the secretion, action and function of the two hormones - oestrogen and progesterone.

When the physical body is relaxed, the body allocates its steroid hormones to produce DHEA and progesterone. These hormones promote long lasting immune balance, cancer prevention, and reproduction.

When conditions are stressful, the body allocates the same steroid building blocks to cortisol.

Cortisol is the “fight or flight" hormone which circulates shortly. Due to everyday stress many youngsters are in the fight or flight state.

Regular periods require a surge of female hormones in the right place and the right time. If stress is high, then oestrogen and progesterone cannot be secreted at the right time. They are depleted because the body needs cortisol instead. This results in irregular periods. Cortisol affects periods in many other ways too. Excess cortisol suppresses thyroid hormone, which in turn, causes menstrual cycle irregularity and makes the body resistant to insulin. This in turn causes failure in ovulation.

Thus Stress affects our reproductive system leading to delayed pregnancy.

CONVERSATIONS  CHANGEs  LIVES!

PictureConversations changes lives
"All  problems  exist  in the absence of a good conversation" ~ Thomas Leonard

Good  health includes physical, emotional and spiritual well being.

Good  health is peace within yourself and harmony with others.

Do you know that 60% of people suffering from mental illness never seek help or support?

Mental health conditions can be harder to treat if waited till the symptoms get bad. But the earlier you opt for help, you can steer your life in the positive direction. Coaching is as simple as initiating a conversation.

Right lifestyle changes like exercise, more time outdoors, community and close relationships, diet, spirituality and mindfulness and healthy sleep, etc. helps in maintaining good mental health.

If you feel low on any given day, here are 10 different ways to lift your spirits:

  1. Count your blessings
  2. Think positively
  3. Relax and breathe
  4. Appreciate someone
  5. Create something
  6. Take a step towards your goal
  7. Have some fun
  8. Love this very moment
  9. Smile at yourself
  10. Smile at others

Take good care of yourself! If you would like to have a conversation, we are just a call away :)

Focus on what you 'want'

One of primary reasons most people don’t get what they want is because they are not clear about what they want. It is a surprise to note that people are crystal clear about what they don’t want – “I don’t want a relationship filled with arguments”, “I don’t want to become bankrupt”, “I am afraid that I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills someday”, “What if I buy a big car, I might have a terrible accident”.  Our mind is our worst enemy. It sabotages us with its judgements, fear, anxiety, etc

Are you sabotaging yourself and your goals this way?

After decades of research into how the human brain works, scientists now know that for our brains to figure out how to get what we want, we must first decide what we want. Once we are clear on our desires, our mind gets aligned with the universe to help make our dreams into reality.

Focusing on what you “don’t want” can effectively make you feel powerless.  It does not define what you do want.  However, this tends to be our habitual tendency.  When you intentionally focus on what you do want, the thoughts of what you don’t want are gradually washed away.  The secret here is that – You don’t fight the thoughts of what you don’t want; you overcome them by concentrating on what you do want.

When you initially learnt car driving, your mind would be filled with fear of not hitting another vehicle. Your trainer would consciously shift your focus back to the road. As you become a master in car driving, it comes naturally to you to focus on the road. You never focus your attention on hitting the wall, isn’t it?
Focus on what you want
In a similar way, can you remember the last time you were caught up in an argument? Maybe you forgot what you were even arguing about—yet you knew inside you had to win! What if, in the middle of that argument, you asked yourself, “What result do I really want from this? Am I focussing on what I want?” You would have realized that your outcome was not to argue, but to create a resolution. This simple shift in focus would have immediately changed the direction of the communication, and would have likely moved you from a state of arguing towards a focus on resolution.

Focusing on illness will never create health. Focusing on unpaid bills or an overdrawn bank account will not create abundance. Focusing our attention on a problem will only serve to magnify it.

In your goal list, you can choose to focus on the results that you are committed to. Instead of focussing on “how to” and “what if” fears, once you shift your focus to the results, you’ll find yourself consistently moving toward the results you’re after—and very often accomplishing them with a much shorter to-do list than you expected.

Focus on what you want and your life will be filled with blessings!
